Decision Making Training
Decision Training (DT) has been taught since 1994. The purpose of Decision Training is to increase the opportunity for the athletes to help to make decisions in training similar to those encountered in competition. It is a proven, powerful tool in teaching coaching effectiveness and the development of elite athletes while building their confidence and making them more self-reflective, teaching them to make their decisions, and becoming more self-reliant; thus being better prepared for training and for the decisions required to insure great performances in the competitive setting.
This is an Advanced Pistol Coach certification prerequisite course.
DT does contrast sharply with the traditional approach to coaching in which the coach focuses mainly on training the skills and capacities with little emphasis on the development of independent thinking and action on the part of the athlete. Decision Training is based upon a three step decision planning process and seven decision training tools.
